ニュアンス 物事の道理や意味を理解する、知識として把握する

学習メモ これは、概念や理論など、頭で理解する「理解する」という意味合いが強いです。

2. 動詞 to realize, to notice, to become aware of

ニュアンス 事実や状況を認識する、気づく

She didn't realize how late it was until she checked her phone.彼女は携帯電話をチェックするまで、どれだけ遅いのか気づかなかった

学習メモ 単に「知る」というよりは、「～という事実に気づく」「～だと悟る」というニュアンスが近いです。

3. 動詞 not understand, can't follow, be unclear

ニュアンス （相手の言っていることなどが）理解できない、分からない

Could you please explain that part again? I don't follow.その部分はもう一度説明してもらえますか？よく分かりません

学習メモ 否定形で使うことが多く、「理解できない」というニュアンスで使われます。相手に聞き返す際によく使えます。
